What You Will Be Doing As BIW Design Engineer Roles
- Concept Development: Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop conceptual designs and creating 3D models or drawings of the BIW components.
- Design and Analysis: Utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) software and engineering principles to create detailed designs of the BIW components. This may involve conducting structural analysis, evaluating material choices, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Prototype Development: Working closely with manufacturing teams to create prototypes of the BIW components and conducting tests to validate their performance and quality.
- Problem-solving and Optimization: Identifying design issues or challenges during the development process and implementing solutions to optimize performance, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability.
- Collaboration and Communication: Effectively communicating with cross-functional teams, including other engineers, project managers, and suppliers, to ensure coordination and alignment throughout the design and development process.
What You Will Be Doing As HVAC Design Engineer Roles
- System Design: Designing HVAC systems based on project requirements, considering factors such as building or vehicle size, occupancy, usage, and local climate conditions. This includes selecting appropriate equipment, such as heating and cooling units, air distribution systems, ventilation systems, and controls.
- Load Calculations: Conducting heat load calculations to determine the heating and cooling requirements of the space or vehicle. This involves considering factors like insulation, occupancy, solar gain, and equipment heat dissipation.
- Equipment Sizing and Selection: Selecting HVAC equipment and components that meet the calculated heating and cooling loads, ensuring energy efficiency and compliance with industry standards and codes. This includes specifying equipment capacities, airflow rates, ductwork sizing, and pipe sizing.
- System Layout and Duct Design: Creating system layouts and duct designs using computer-aided design (CAD) software. This involves determining the routing of ductwork, placement of diffusers or registers, and sizing of ducts based on airflow requirements.
- Energy Efficiency and Sustainability: Incorporating energy-efficient design practices and sustainable solutions into HVAC systems, such as utilizing renewable energy sources, implementing energy recovery systems, and optimizing system controls for efficient operation.

Skills Required for The Post
- Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, structural analysis, material science, and manufacturing processes related to body structure design.
- CAD Software Proficiency: Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD for creating 2D and 3D models, conducting simulations, and generating technical drawings.
- Design and Analysis: Ability to design and analyze structural components, conduct stress analysis, and evaluate performance under different load conditions. Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other analysis tools is beneficial.
- Automotive Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with automotive industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to body structure design, crashworthiness, and occupant safety.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify design issues, propose solutions, and optimize the performance, weight, and cost of BIW components.
